Church History
In October 2001, Pastor Clara Brown-Draughn accepted the call from God to begin a new chapter in her ministry to shepherd His people. She informed her immediate family of the decision made and asked them each, “Will you step out of the boat with me?” as according to Matthew 14:28-29. Her husband and her three adult children including their families extended their hearts to the vision that God gave to her, and they each stepped out of the boat with Pastor Clara. On October 21, 2001, the ministry known today as “True Love Evangelistic Ministries” was birthed in a small hotel. Her vision was to go after her family and to begin a ministry that not only honored and glorified God but brought families back together in the holiness of God.
With all the accomplishments that TLEM have been a part of and seen these many years, the greatest accomplishment is that for 22 years the doors of True Love Evangelistic Ministries have remained open! Regardless of the challenges that have arisen the church has remained a constant faithful light in the community and in the city of Detroit.
22 years is for order and a command to fulfill our true purpose. True Love Evangelistic Ministries together we are in agreement that in this next season we will run with the vision that Pastor Chris has made plain to the church because “We know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose!”
Bishop Clara Brown-Draughn
November 08, 1951 – December 11, 2018
Bishop Clara Brown-Draughn was the Founder of True Love Evangelistic Ministries, where the “True Love of God is in the House!” She truly was a woman of faith. God had anointed, appointed and called her for such a time as this. For many years her walk of faith lead many souls to Christ. Bishop Clara kept her hands on the plow to minister and to teach God’s word. A laborer who knew that in this day and age, it’s not about enabling people but empowering them to prosper both spiritually and physically.
Beginning the ministry on October 21, 2001, Bishop Clara was known to show a great magnitude of love and dedication to God’s people. With an anointed voice through song, her anointing drew many people that were hurt and lost. Lives where transformed through this mighty woman of God. Bishop Clara stood firm in her faith, knowing that through Christ all things are possible. Her motto was, “If I can help somebody as I pass along, then my living shall not be in vain”
Bishop Clara trusted and depended on God with a faith that never wavered. Teaching others the power of “Walking on Water Faith.” She completed her race and finalized her assignment. She was peacefully called home to be with the Lord on December 11, 2018. Bishop laid the foundation for True Love E.M. Her LEGACY SHALL CONTINUE…
Pastor Christopher Brown
On April 18, 2010, Pastor Clara ordained her youngest son, Christopher Brown as a minister of True Love E.M. Min. Chris or as the young people often refer to him as “Uncle Chris”, continued to serve under Pastor Clara in obedience and faith. On October 16, 2016, Bishop Clara knew the calling over Minister Chris’s life and elevated him to the office of Elder. From that point forward Bishop established him to be known as Pastor Chris, thereby spiritually acknowledging his place within the ministry. As he voluntarily serves the church and the community.
Bishop Clara completed her race and assignment and was peacefully called home on December 11, 2018. As it was with Elijah and Elisha, on January 27, 2019, Pastor Chris accepted the mantle left to him by Bishop Clara.
